Last year, Chevrolet created a road trip challenge where various teams across the country competed against each other to complete scavenger hunt style missions from their native home all the way to Austin, TX for the South by Southwest Interactive conference. And…Team Detroit WON! Our community received an EPIC-style Tweetup courtesy of Chevy.
Chevy is at it again this year, and two teams will be representing Detroit. The rules are different this year, and the community doesn’t have a say in the judging. We’ll be judged more on our creativity and content quality versus quantity.

Norman Witte III is a disk jockey, musician, web developer and blogger. He makes up one half of Detroit DJ Duo Lune Noir. After spending most of his career working in IT for the automotive industry, Norm’s career shifted towards music and the web for the past five years. He grew up in Lake Orion, Michigan and will soon be relocating to Ferndale. Norm is very fond of the great outdoors, and enjoys camping, kayaking, skiing and hiking in the Pure Michigan wilderness.
Shauna Nicholson is an online marketing strategist. She works with the fantastic people of the Jewish Federation of Metro Detroit who are kind enough to sponsor her SXSW conference pass and stay. She loves her 4 awesome siblings, dancing hip hop, and traveling. In 2010, Shauna went on no less than four road trips across the country–true story! Needless to say, she’s ready for the road.
Joe Minock is a local serial entrepreneur, he founded Adrenaline Commerce, LLC. an Ann Arbor based ecommerce web development firm and is a Co-Founder at DealSavant.com which had a small business marketing and analytics ple. When not in the office, Joe can be found Speed Inline Skating, Downhill Mountain Biking, or Climbing. His favorite sport is Ski Racing, and he’s dedicated many hours each winter to coaching a high school ski team from Birmingham and also the Team XLR8 junior race program at Mt. Brighton.
Bobby Mercader is a self proclaimed lover of Memes and a slider connoissseur. Currently he is the SEO and Social Media Coordinator at FurnitureCrate.com. Bobby loves spending his spare time practicing Muay Thai at Warrior Way Martial Arts and checking out the local music scene in Detroit. He is very excited for all the adventures he is going to experience on this years Chevy SXSW trip!
